Gailon & Paola,

Well I have always said that sometimes it is good to take your time to
prepare something to write about somebody else but I suppose this amount of time is ridiculous!!!  I do hope you all are very well, if in deed a little confused and vacant about who this is!!!

On many levels I have got caught up with life as you used to know it back here in the uk but on others I am still burning a bright candle in my mind for your teachings Gailon.  Your form still flows in my tai chi and I am living a wonderfully rich dual life of "playing the game" and inner contemplation.  For now that is good.

No words of mine will be good enough to go on your site and anybody who ends up attending your sessions will probably do so because they were on their way anyway!!

Just thought I would say hi and catch up.  Max (Thu, January 18, 2007)

Feeling the difference between mind and body walking up the steps observing all that is being noticed at the moment.  The act of thinking, the act of walking.  What is being thought, how is the walk and who is observing all this.  Approaching the court the Maestro (as we call Gailon) is a few meters ahead of me.  A lady stretching, a student moving around and the third standing Chi Kung.  Maestro retreats for a moment before joining in.  I enter the picture and begin to pick- up with the students.  Navigation begins.  Next thing I know we are all in a circle arms up and floating and taking off.  The feeling established can not be put into words as it truly was a sense of virtual of reality formation from  the let go. But here goes.  Downloading of our virtual reality software.  Smooth sailing all the way today.  The Maestro took our minds to the outer limits as far as getting our minds to understand the mechanics of the navigational switch.  The relativity point to gravity, air and sound card.  A brief suggestion that we send a little peace and happiness out to the world, or do we.   What were we feeling, what are we moving to are we hearing the same tape. Bringing the minds to a sensitivity of awareness of attention to all the subtleties of the moment right down to the distraction of the cat to cause focus to shift.   For sure I felt only absorbed into the moment, the information and each other.  The background didn’t even exist.  The question is proposed as to just how much knowledge can we download.  Can a group of people come together and sustain this frequency of understanding exactly the same way the 6 billion hold and perform the frequency of non-understanding.   What would that demand from each of us.  Sitting down the virtual sustains even though in the transition to inside seems like Beta.   Off again in the vertical feeling each other and the idea of a sense of a presence.  Thoughts, watch the thoughts, what kind of thoughts, could we each share the thoughts we are running through and can there be a pathway for higher thoughts.  From there Spirit of Abundance recognition and the lady says no, it is not spirit we want it is consciousness of Abundance that you are worthy of abundance or paying homage to spirit only will get you nothing.  Needless to say I have racked the brain in recalling all of this and still have probably left out half.  Very enlightening, informative, and entertaining session.  Thank-you Maestro.

My sitting with Gailon has shifted me to a new awareness of myself.  I became aware of my Essence, something I have been attempting to reach for a long time.

My sitting was very enlightening and energizing.  After session was over I felt alive and centered.  This environment created a safe place for me to try the energy session.  It was a positive experience and something I will continue to practice.

My session with Gailon was very intense.  I have essentially no experience with meditation, but am confident that the inner energy experience is real and fundamental to spiritual peace.

Here, the Qi Gong is practiced at the same time of the meditation.  Attempting to move my hands, for right now not feeling the Chi or anything, but finding that what they do with their movements reminds me of things like molding softly, giving, opening, sharing, receiving, thanking, expanding, lifting, slowing down, calming down, relaxing, reassuring, gathering into the heart, energizing.  There is a subtle and not easily noticeable interchange, as they end up mirroring in part one another's movement, and after a while I perceive a homogenizing of intent within the group. At the same time each person maintains one's own distinctly individual style, in a quite beautiful way.

A few weeks later:

I am so grateful for having this experience here with the group at the Nube Blanca (White Cloud).  I am learning several things, and some that I am sure I still am not aware of. One is, not to be afraid to look at another person soul to soul.  During their meditation sessions they establish eye contact with one another, in turn, and for a long time.  This is a totally unusual experience, and initially an unsettling one.  Maintaining the gaze into one another's eyes breaks the social agreement not to stare, the unspoken human agreement to disengage the eyes every few seconds, especially if not speaking.  So you keep the gaze steady in the other person's eyes and you let your being open for that other being to be in your company.  And after a little while you feel so close to that other soul, that you know you'll recognize it when you meet it again anywhere in the universe.  Also, in that unusual connection, core-being to core-being, you find that you have to shed any artificiality, hypocrisy, acting, impersonating, that you carry around as you normally relate to people.  Initially it is intimidating and even scary to allow this person to really see your face, your un-embellished expression, and for so long, uninterruptedly.  You notice that you cannot sustain a fake expression, or even an expression that you are aware of.  You lose track of what your face looks like.  Your core expression comes to the surface, there, open and uncovered, for that other person to share your unadulterated presence.  So after a while you get the guts to shed your hesitation, your acquired mannerism, your shield, your habitual defensive screen.  You discover you can be fearless once you give up all the artificial concretions you have accumulated layer upon layer during a lifetime.  You feel the great release of all the energy you are normally using to maintain that screen.  And with that person in the group, one person at a time, you lift up.  You reciprocally and gradually lift one another up, into a state where time and space lose some of their iron grip.  There your perspective widens, you sense that this material reality is not all there is, your taste a way of being that is more real, more essential, more free. Meanwhile the rest of the group is there, you perceive its presence in the background, other souls connecting with other souls the same way you are doing.  You feel the group as a positive background that supports and fosters, and provides an undercurrent of assent, in great simplicity and honesty.

A few days before leaving:

I notice that the movements have the effect of slowing down my breath.  As it comes natural to breathe in unison with the movement, I find that after a while I need to slow down the movement, because I am breathing slower.  And then a surprising thing happens: it feels like it is the movement which does the breathing, so I end up skipping some breaths, as they become unnecessary.  After a while it is as if the breath is totally external to me, and it is somehow shared within the group, which keeps it alive by the hand movements.

This is a serene and calm state, free of intruding thoughts, where the awareness of the group takes the place of thoughts.

I went to Costa Rica to work with Gailon because I knew I wanted to learn Tai Chi in a concentrated block of time.  We worked on it every day and I received lots of expert corrections.  I got all that and more at both of the beautiful retreats they have set up to explore the Chi.  The intensive approach to the Tai Chi combined with Chi Kung exercises and meditations helped me to get a much deeper sense of what it was all about.  I would recommend this process to anyone who, like myself, gets so busy in their lives that they cant find time to attend a local once a week class to learn and complete a form.  This format provides a wonderful focused way to work on and learn a form with no distractions.
